Azerbaijan Republic Day Celebrated in Chicago with Flag Raising Ceremony

Hosted by the Azerbaijan Center of Midwest America (ACMA)

On May 28, 2025, the Azerbaijan Center of Midwest America proudly held its annual Flag Raising Ceremony at Daley Plaza, Chicago, in celebration of Azerbaijan Republic Day.

As in previous years, the Azerbaijani flag was raised with great pride in the heart of the city, symbolizing our enduring commitment to national identity, cultural heritage, and unity. The ceremony featured the playing of the Azerbaijani National Anthem, traditional music, and a special national dance performance by Azerbaijani youth.

    Mr. Tahir Bora Atatanır shared in his address:

    “It is an honor to join our Azerbaijani brothers and sisters in this celebration. Türkiye and Azerbaijan are two nations, one soul. It is truly inspiring to witness how the Azerbaijani community in Chicago preserves its traditions while strengthening bonds with Türkiye and the U.S.”

    Maria Pappas, in a written message, added:

    “It was an honor to celebrate Azerbaijan’s independence and recognize the strength and history of the Azerbaijani-American community here in Chicago.”

The ACMA leadership would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all who joined us in this celebration—community members, families, guests, and friends from across cultures and generations.

Your participation made this year’s event truly memorable. Together, we honored the spirit of independence and showcased the strong bonds between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and the United States.
