About Us

The Azerbaijan Center of Midwest America (ACMA)

The Azerbaijan Center of Midwest America (ACMA) is organized exclusively for cultural, charitable, and educational purposes and activities described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (the “IRC”). ACMA is a nonprofit organization established as a permanent entity in Illinois, dedicated to promoting mutual understanding, appreciation, and cooperation between the citizens of the United States and Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani-Americans have had a strong presence within the Chicago community, contributing to our regional diversity, intercultural understanding, and cultural enrichment. The Azerbaijan Center of Midwest America (ACMA) was established on April 15, 2015.

ACMA has four main facets to its operations:

  • Culture – ACMA raises awareness of Azerbaijan’s rich and vibrant culture to a worldwide audience by organizing cultural events and serving as a networking center.
  • Business – ACMA supports its business community, including its membership in the Skokie Chamber of Commerce and Azerbaijan businesses. It provides a platform for organizations to establish links and strengthen their existing business relationships through a program of networking opportunities across the regions.
  • Public Affairs – ACMA works to increase awareness about Azerbaijan among key opinion formers, decision-makers, and other political, academic, and civil society stakeholders.
  • Education – As a new organization, we will cooperate and create new programs and educational opportunities for Azerbaijani and American students.

In pursuit of its objectives, ACMA:

  • Organizes meetings with interested parties, opinion formers, and decision-makers.
  • Facilitates fact-finding trips for politicians and business people.
  • Arranges round tables, seminars, lectures, and conferences.
  • Publishes pamphlets, reports, bulletins, books, and films.
